Kemba Walker with the ball. Drives the lane, hard step back, 2 seconds on the clock, shoots and hits the winning basket. Kemba Walker to lead the Huskies with a game winning bucket to ice the Pittsburgh Panthers. Well this was last year, but with the run UCONN made today against DePaul it kind of reminded me of last years run. Knock on wood. However, last year UCONN looked like a broken team losing there last six games and hobbling into the Big East Tournament.
So here we are again one of the biggest stages in the world. Madison Square Garden. This is UCONN’s stage. I saw that because their returning champs. But with that said after watching today’s win 81 to 67 over the Blue Demons it gives me hope that the Huskies are starting to play as a team. Lamb 25 pts, 5 feb, 4 art. This is the guy you need to step up as a player and today he did. With Lamb hitting shots all over floor and catching passes like Randy Moss I think the Huskies can play with any team on the floor. This is exactly the game the Huskies needed, especially Jeremy to boost their confidence and head with heads held high into a remaining tough schedule.
Hopefully tomorrow when UCONN faces WVU they can carry over that confidence and get guys like Drummond and Oriakhi to play big and assert their dominance in the paint. With guards like Boatright and Napier and shooters like Smith and Lamb, the only ingredients missing to a solid glue is the paint players.
There is no doubt that UCONN needed this win to get into the NCAA Tournament. However, they need big game wins to boost their confidence and play like the all-star players they are. A big stage can only mean big plays. So flush your demons down the drain and wash yourselves of this game because tomorrow is a new day and a new challenge. And the Huskies are going to have to climb a Mountain to come out on top.
